Mental Health (MH)

Mental health collectively refers to cognitive, behavioral, & emotional well-being. It is about how people think, feel, and behave.
As per WHO “Mental health is an integral part of health; indeed, there is no health without mental health. MH is determined by a range of socioeconomic, biological and environmental factors.”

Why is Mental Health Important?

In ancient times, it was said that if any unattended emotions are left in body, they create dis-ease, i.e. disease inside the body.
It is even evident in today’s world, fear and anxiety are common emotions when you have been diagnosed with a chronic disease like Chronic Kidney Disease. Even anger is one of the reasons for Chronic Kidney Disease .

MH determines how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. It can affect our daily lifestyle, relationships, and physical health. Conditions such as stress, depression, and anxiety can all affect MH and disrupt a person’s routine.

Mental HealthDeterminants

Multiple social, psychological, and biological factors determine the level of MH of a person at any point of time. For example, violence and persistent socio-economic pressures are recognized risks to MH. The clearest evidence is associated with sexual violence.
Poor MH is also associated with rapid social change, stressful work conditions, gender discrimination, social exclusion, unhealthy lifestyle, physical ill-health and human rights violations. There are specific psychological and personality factors that make people vulnerable to MH problems. Biological risks include genetic factors.

Way to improve MH :

Talking to someone about your emotions is essential. Do not feel that you must find a way to deal with this by yourself. Most patients benefit from discussing their feelings with their healthcare team, family and friends.

  • Staying Positive
  • Physical Activity
  • Proper Sleeping Habits
  • Vending out whats inside instead of suffocating within – That’s where we step in.
